The Reagan Legacy Project is an effort to memorialize the spirit and achievements of the nation’s greatest president, Ronald Wilson Reagan. By naming a significant landmark in Nevada after the late President Reagan, we hope to preserve his legacy for future generations of Nevadans.
Ronald Reagan, a man of true character and earnest dedication to the principles of our democracy, defeated the spread of Communism and reignited American morale in a challenging economic time.
President Reagan’s uncanny ability to communicate his thoughts with sincerity blurred partisan lines and touched all Americans. In both of his elections, it was obvious that he wasn’t just a typical divisive candidate- by capturing nearly 60% of the vote, he proved that his appeal was broad.
The Gipper’s presence in today’s political landscape cannot be ignored. In polls as recent as the Spring of 2009, Reagan is named as the “Favorite President in American History.” Candidates from both sides of the aisle attempt to identify with and call upon Reagan’s principles of limited government, strong patriotic sentiments and protection of our democracy.
There are over 3,000 landmarks, including highways, buildings, and schools named after President Reagan.
Nevada does not have any significant landmark to commemorate this great American.
It is time that we recognize the importance of our 40th president here in the Silver State, and to call for a tribute to him so future generations may have the opportunity to learn about the legacy of Ronald Wilson Reagan.
On the occasion of what would have been his 99th birthday, Citizen Outreach and our sponsoring friends are proud to introduce the Reagan Legacy Project. It is our sincere hope that by President Reagan’s 100th birthday, February 6, 2011, we will have achieved our goal.
